Getting Around Melbourne for the Conference

We encourage attendees to use public transport wherever possible to align with our theme, and support more sustainable travel choices that reduce our environmental impact.

How to reach the Conference Venue

The Conference Venue (MCEC) can be easily reached by public transport:

  • By Tram
    • Tram routes 96, 109, and 12 stop at 124A Casino/MCEC/Clarendon Street, right outside the Clarendon Street entrance.
    • Tram routes 70, 75, and the City Circle Tram stop at Spencer St/Flinders St (Stop 1). From there, it’s a short 5-minute down Clarendon Street.
  • By Train
The closest station is Southern Cross Station, located about 10 minutes from the venue on foot. Alternatively, you can go to Flinders Street and walk along the River to the Convention Center.

You can find additional directions and travel advice on the MCEC website.

Public Transport Updates

The PTV mobile app provides real-time information on Melbourne’s trains, trams, and buses. It’s a simple and helpful App for planning routes and checking schedules during your stay.

Melbourne Free Tram Zone

Melbourne’s Free Tram Zone makes it easy to travel within the Central Business District (CBD) without needing a ticket. Many key locations are covered within this zone; museums, restaurants, bars. You can view the Free Tram Zone map to see where free travel applies.

Traveling from Melbourne Airport to the City and Beyond

The SkyBus connects Melbourne Airport with the city center and nearby suburbs. From there, you can use trains, trams, or buses to reach your accommodation or the conference venue. If you choose to take a ride-sharing service such as Uber, consider coordinating with fellow attendees to share a ride. This not only helps reduce costs but also minimizes the environmental impact of car travel.
